Day 01 : Airport - Negombo 15 min (8.3 km)
- Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon your arrival at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, one of our tour agents will meet you and transfer you to the nearby hotel in Negombo.
- If you arrive early, you can relax on the golden sand beach.
- After your welcome meeting, you will have dinner at the hotel and relax before starting your adventure in Sri Lanka
Day 02 : Negombo - Sigiriya 3 hr 13 min (146 km)
- Depart Negombo for Sigiriya, where you’ll stay for two nights.
- Upon arrival, check into your hotel and in the afternoon, visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
- This impressive site features a ruined palace atop a dramatic rock formation.
- The climb to the top is a bit challenging but offers rewarding views and historical insights from your leader.
- Return to your hotel for dinner in the evening.
Day 03 : Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa 1 hr 16 min (58.6 km)
- After breakfast, head to Polonnaruwa to explore the cultural triangle.
- Visit the well-preserved Quadrangle complex, featuring ancient temples, tombs, and stupas.
- Highlights include the seven-story palace of King Parakramabahu, Gal Vihara rock temple, Rankot Vihara stupa, and the intricately carved Lankatilaka Buddha statue.
- Don’t miss the impressive 100-meter statue of Parakrama.
Day 04: Sigiriya - Kandy 2 hr 43 min (89.3 km)
- This morning, start your journey to Kandy.
- First, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, exploring five caves with around 150 ancient Buddha statues and paintings, some over 2000 years old.
- Your leader will explain the significance of this World Heritage site.
- On the way to Kandy, stop in Matale to visit a local spice garden and learn about Sri Lanka's spice heritage.
- Continue to Kandy for an overnight stay.
Day 05 : Kandy
- This morning, meet a local botanist for a guided tour of the Royal Botanical Garden, where you'll see Yellow Fronted Barbets, Layards Parakeets, Sri Lankan Hanging Parrots, and a stunning array of orchids.
- Visit the gem museum and lapidary to learn about gem mining and jewelry making in Sri Lanka.
- In the afternoon, enjoy an exclusive cultural performance in the home of a local dancer.
- Later, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic, Sri Lanka's most important shrine, and if timed right, witness the puja ceremony with drummers and dancers.
Day 06 : Kandy - Nuwara Eliya 2 hr 40 min (76.1 km)
- After breakfast, travel to Nuwara Eliya, located at 1800 meters elevation in tea plantation country and known for its cool climate.
- En route, visit Ambuluwawa Peak, the biodiversity complex, and Ramboda Waterfall.
- Enjoy a high tea experience at the hotel, featuring a variety of teas and finger foods.
- In the evening, explore the hotel's gardens or dine at its excellent restaurant.
Day 07 : Nuwara Eliya
- In the morning, visit the Tea State & Tea Factory, established in 1885, where you’ll see original machinery and learn about the process of making Ceylon black tea.
- You can sample some of the tea yourself. Next, visit the Single Tree Temple and enjoy a 40-minute hike with stunning views of the hills and tea fields. Alternatively, you may choose an optional tour to Horton Plains National Park and World’s End, which requires good fitness for a 9km walk.
Day 08 : Nuwara Eliya - Yala 3 hr 13 min (113 km)
- Today, travel to Yala National Park, Sri Lanka's second-largest park, where you can see leopards, elephants, crocodiles, and bears, and enjoy birdwatching with species like the Sri Lanka Wood Pigeon and Painted Stork.
- In the morning, take a scenic train ride from Nanu Oya to Ella, known for its breathtaking views. Stop in Ella to visit Ella Gap for stunning vistas.
- After your journey, check into your tranquil Yala hotel, which offers convenient access to wildlife viewing away from large tour groups.
Day 09 : Yala National Park
- Enjoy a safari in Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s top wildlife reserve.
- Board a 4×4 to explore grasslands, forests, and lagoons, with your guide helping you spot hidden animals.
- Look for crocodiles, elephants, monkeys, buffaloes, and possibly a leopard. Finish your day with an included dinner at your resort.
Day 10 : Yala - Galle 2 hr 16 min (150 km)
- After breakfast, travel to Galle, a charming seaside town at Sri Lanka’s southern tip.
- Check into your hotel, then join a walking tour of this well-preserved colonial town.
- Explore the Dutch-built fort, surrounded by the ocean, and discover ancient mosques, churches, museums, and boutiques.
Day 11 : Galle
- Spend the morning relaxing on the golden sandy beach.
- Enjoy activities like diving, snorkeling, whale watching, visiting sea turtles, or taking boat rides.
Day 12 : Galle - Colombo 2 hr 8 min (129 km)
- On your last day in Sri Lanka, travel to Colombo after breakfast.
- In the afternoon, take a walking tour of Colombo Fort with your leader, visiting the vibrant Pettah market and the colorful Red Mosque.
- Explore colonial-era Dutch and British architecture.
- Your trip concludes at the airport in the evening.
